HIGH SCHOOL
Program
Grade 9-12
What does a day at our High School Academy look like?
Grade 9-12's
-
Students start the day at Churchill School on Hay St. for their first class. We do have an option where parents can choose to drop them off early at Southdale Arena by 8:20am and then they are bussed to the school for their first class. This is helpful for families that have younger children in our program that need to be dropped off early at Southdale Arena. This saves them from having to do two different drop-offs.
-
The students are bussed to the rink for a 10:35am start.
-
2 groups are on either one of our two ice surfaces at a time and 1 group will be working out in our off-ice training area.
-
After their 1 hour session, the students are bussed back to the school at noon to continue their normal school day.

The High School Program development model progresses from less work on the core individual technical skills worked on in Grade 7 and Grade 8, to now focus more on individual and team tactical situations where players now utilize those core individual skills and bring them together into more game-like situations like 1on1's, 2on1's, 3on2's. Another big part of the program is the incorporation of small-area games to really enforce those tactical skills.
Our students will see coach Larry Woo once/week on the ice and then one of our other coaches (one of the three Churchill coaches Matt Varnes, Jesse Klymm and Nico Labossiere, or one of the specialty coaches like Brennan Frykas of Excessive Speed Hockey).
